Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh)— Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed district officials to ensure that all public welfare and infrastructure development works are completed with quality and within the set timeline. Chairing a review meeting of development projects in Fatehabad district, the Chief Minister warned that negligence in execution or compromise in standards will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
During the meeting held at the Rest House in Fatehabad, CM Saini emphasized that the state government prioritizes projects related to flood management, irrigation, roads, sewerage, drinking water, and other essential infrastructure. He instructed the Irrigation Department to widen the Hisar-Ghaggar drain to prevent waterlogging in surrounding areas and to prepare an alternative water flow plan to reduce pressure on the Ottu Lake. He also directed officials to explore the possibility of concrete lining of the drain in villages along its route to prevent soil erosion and blockages.
The Chief Minister ordered immediate drainage in waterlogged farmlands so that farmers can begin sowing on time. He also instructed officials to identify low-lying areas and prepare long-term plans to prevent waterlogging during future monsoon seasons.
Discussing crop damage, Saini directed that the verification of crop loss reports due to recent rainfall be expedited. He stressed that compensation must reach genuine farmers only after thorough physical verification of data uploaded on the portal. “The government will ensure fair and timely compensation for every farmer,” he said, “but accuracy and transparency are essential.”
Reviewing procurement activities in grain markets, the Chief Minister directed that all farmers’ paddy crops be purchased without delay and that all claims registered on the compensation portal be fully verified.
Review of Chilli Lake and Infrastructure Projects
Saini reviewed the progress of the Chilli Lake project and instructed the Deputy Commissioner to submit a detailed report from all departments. He ordered strict quality checks and warned that any department found delivering substandard work would face action. To resolve land acquisition issues, he suggested using the e-Bhoomi portal to facilitate transparent land purchases.
The Chief Minister also reviewed drinking water, road, and sewerage works under the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), directing officials to complete the ongoing waterworks project in Fatehabad sectors at the earliest to ensure clean drinking water for residents.
He further instructed that all district roads be repaired before winter and that work on widening 40 major roads be accelerated. He emphasized that sewerage and drinking water lines must be laid before new road construction to avoid re-digging later.
Saini directed deputy commissioners to hold monthly reviews of all development projects and to take strict action against any officer or contractor found guilty of poor-quality work.
Urban Development and Health Projects
The Chief Minister instructed municipal authorities to complete development works in all legally approved colonies to provide better urban amenities. He suggested organizing cleanliness competitions in towns to raise public awareness about sanitation. Saini also ordered that the ongoing construction of the 200-bed hospital in Fatehabad be completed within the current financial year to improve healthcare services for residents.
Drainage Plans in Bhuna Area
Reviewing the drainage proposal for Bhuna, Saini asked officials to evaluate the feasibility of the plan connecting Agrasen Chowk to the main drain and execute it swiftly. He also directed the immediate implementation of an already approved ₹10.47 crore project for laying pipelines up to Rangoie to resolve the monsoon waterlogging issue.
The meeting was attended by former minister Devender Singh Babli, former MLA Dura Ram, SC Commission Chairman Ravindra Baliyal, BJP District President Praveen Joda, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Vivek Bharti, SP Siddhant Jain, ADC Anurag Dhalia, SDM Akash Sharma, GM Roadways Major Gayatri Ahlawat, SDM Rajesh Kumar, CEO Suresh Kumar, CTM Gaurav Gupta, and other senior district officials.
