National Times Bureau, July 21, 2025: India’s campaign in the Anderson Tendulkar Trophy faced a setback as all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remainder of the Test series against England due to a knee injury. Reddy sustained the injury during a gym training session on Sunday. Scans later confirmed ligament damage in his left knee.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed the development on Monday, stating that Reddy, who played in the second and third Tests, will return home. “Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the remaining two Tests owing to a left knee injury. Nitish will fly back home and the team wishes him a speedy recovery,” the BCCI said in its statement.
Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh will not be considered for selection for the fourth Test after suffering a thumb injury during a net session in Beckenham last week. Arshdeep is yet to play in the series. The BCCI medical team is monitoring his condition.
As a cover, Haryana fast bowler Anshul Kamboj has been added to the squad and has already joined the team in Manchester, where the fourth Test will be played at Old Trafford starting Wednesday.
India trails the five-match series 1-2 against hosts England.
