NIA Arrests Seventh Suspect in Red Fort Blast, Expands Investigation

New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday apprehended Soyab, a resident of Dhauj in Faridabad, Haryana, marking the seventh arrest linked to the November 10 Red Fort car bombing in Delhi. Soyab is accused of providing shelter and logistical assistance to Umar Un Nabi, the terrorist who carried out the deadly attack.

According to officials, Soyab aided Umar in the days leading up to the explosion, which killed multiple people and injured several others when the explosives-laden vehicle detonated near the historic monument. The NIA is continuing searches across several states, working closely with local police to identify and apprehend other individuals connected to the attack.

Prior arrests in the case included six key associates of Umar, such as Dr Muzammil Shakeel Ganai of Pulwama, Dr Adeel Ahmed Rather of Anantnag, Dr Shaheen Saeed of Lucknow, and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay of Shopian. These individuals are reported to have played pivotal roles in planning and executing the terror plot.

Earlier, two additional suspects—Amir Rashid Ali, in whose name the car was registered, and Jasir Bilal Wani, who provided technical support—had been taken into NIA custody. All seven accused are currently detained as investigations continue.

Authorities have stated that the probe remains active, with teams tracing multiple leads to ensure those responsible for the attack are brought to justice and to prevent further threats to national security.
