Chandigarh, December 6, 2025 — Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Saturday said that her husband, former Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, will return to active politics only if the party officially declares him its Chief Ministerial candidate. She made the remarks after meeting Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria.
She asserted that Sidhu has the ability to deliver strong governance and revive Punjab as a “Golden State,” but stressed that they would not engage in internal lobbying or financial bargaining to secure positions. “We cannot and will not offer money for posts,” she said.
Criticising the factionalism within the Congress, Navjot Kaur Sidhu alleged that at least five senior leaders in the state unit are aspiring for the top post. According to her, these ambitions have created resistance to Sidhu’s rise within the organisation.
She added that the Congress must present a clear leadership choice ahead of the next elections if it wants to maintain coherence, credibility, and voter trust.
