Calgary, Rajeev Sharma :- A man in his early 20s has died following a tragic collision between a motorcycle and an SUV late Sunday night in northwest Calgary. The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. at the busy intersection of 16 Avenue NW and 10 Street NW. He is the son of Ex-MLA Parabh Gill, who is in deep shock after this tragic accident.

According to police, the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on 16 Avenue when he allegedly moved from the left lane into the left-turn lane and entered the intersection against a red light at high speed. At the same time, a woman in her 30s driving an SUV was making a left turn from southbound 10 Street onto eastbound 16 Avenue. The motorcycle struck the SUV, resulting in a violent impact. Emergency crews rushed the injured rider to hospital in life-threatening condition, but he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the SUV was not physically hurt and remained at the scene, cooperating fully with investigators.

Calgary Police say excessive speed is believed to be a major factor in the collision. No signs of alcohol or drug impairment have been reported. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashcam footage from the area to contact the Calgary Police Traffic Section. This intersection was closed for several hours overnight as officers conducted an on-site investigation. It has since reopened to traffic.
