Monsoon Session 2025: Lok Sabha Adjourned Till 2 PM Amid Opposition Uproar Over Operation Sindoor

New Delhi (National Times): The Monsoon Session of Parliament 2025 kicked off on a stormy note Monday, with the Lok Sabha adjourned till noon following loud protests from Opposition members demanding an urgent debate on key national concerns.

The Opposition raised strong objections over the Centre’s handling of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Bihar, and sought immediate discussions on Operation Sindoor, among other pressing matters.

Despite the uproar, the government had lined up a packed agenda for the session, including debates on bills concerning GST reforms, mining laws, sports governance, and more. A crucial development is expected with the tabling of the Parliamentary Select Committee’s report on the Income Tax Bill, 2025, which is anticipated to pave the way for a complete revamp of India’s direct tax structure.

On Sunday, in a bid to maintain order and cooperation during the session, the Centre convened an all-party meeting. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju appealed to all parties to work in coordination and uphold parliamentary traditions.

“We are ready to discuss all issues, including Operation Sindoor, as long as it is done within the rules and procedures of Parliament,” Rijiju stated.

The meeting witnessed representation from 51 political parties, with 54 leaders participating in what was seen as a significant effort to build consensus ahead of a heated legislative season.
