The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have officially classified the death as a homicide. Investigators were called to a parking lot near a highway at approximately 7:45 AM, where emergency medical services declared Devinder dead at the scene.

According to Devinder’s cousin, Gurjant Singh, the incident occurred while Devinder was on duty for a local company, Crown Cab.

- The Shooting: As he waited in the parking lot, the woman rushed out of the motel in a hurry, pursued by a man. The pursuer opened fire toward the woman as she approached the taxi.

Devinder Singh had moved to Canada nearly four years ago to build a life with his wife. The couple, married for six years, were active members of the local community. In addition to driving for Crown Cab, Devinder and his wife operated a small café together. The couple did not have any children.
