
Lalru, February 9,2025: – A grand Nagar Kirtan was organized in Lalru to celebrate the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Ravidass Maharaj, where MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa participated and extended his heartfelt greetings to the congregation. The event witnessed a large gathering of devotees walking under the canopy of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, led by the revered Panj Pyare (Five Beloved Ones). The atmosphere was filled with spiritual fervor as Ragi, Dhadi, and Kirtani jathas performed melodious hymns, uplifting the spirits of the attendees.
Devotees followed the palanquin of Guru Sahib with deep reverence, listening to the divine praises. Throughout the procession route, the congregation showcased their devotion by showering flowers and serving Guru’s Langar at various points. A large number of local residents, along with their families, participated in the Nagar Kirtan to seek blessings, making the streets come alive with vibrant and devotional sights.
MLA Randhawa, while addressing the gathering, emphasized that Shri Guru Ravidass Ji dismantled the barriers of caste discrimination and challenged the arrogance rooted in social hierarchies. He highlighted Guru Ravidass Ji’s vision of creating an egalitarian society free from exploitation, untouchability, and superstitions. Randhawa stated that the true purpose of celebrating Guru Ravidass Ji’s birth anniversary is to embrace his teachings, eradicate social evils, and strive towards building an equal society that fulfills the dream of “Begampura” – a land without sorrow, as envisioned by the Guru.
He further remarked that throughout history, spiritual leaders have emerged to combat social injustices, and Guru Ravidass Ji was a powerful voice against casteism, ritualism, religious extremism, and other oppressive practices of his time. The Nagar Kirtan concluded with a special Ardas (prayer) where the congregation prayed for universal well-being and prosperity.
