Chandigarh (National Times): A Select Committee led by MLA Inderbir Singh Nijjar has been constituted to examine the much-anticipated Sacrilege Bill in Punjab. The formation of the committee marks a crucial step in the legislative process surrounding one of the state’s most sensitive and debated issues.
The official list of members on the committee has now been released, drawing attention from political observers and religious bodies alike. The committee will review the provisions of the bill, suggest amendments if required, and consult stakeholders before tabling a detailed report in the Assembly.

The Advocate General, Punjab shall be an ex-officio member of this Committee under Rule 215(2) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
This Select Committee shall submit its report within 6 months.
