Chandigarh ( Naval Kishore): Saurabh Joshi conducted a surprise late-night visit to a Rain Basera (night shelter) in Chandigarh to review the living conditions of homeless residents. During the inspection, the Mayor found several deficiencies, including inadequate water supply, lack of proper heating facilities, absence of basic medical arrangements and unsafe electrical wiring.
He interacted with the residents and shelter staff to understand their problems and expressed serious concern over the poor management of the facility. Mayor Joshi directed officials to ensure immediate improvements and warned that strict action would be taken against those responsible if the required standards were not maintained, stressing that night shelters must provide safe and dignified conditions for vulnerable sections of society.
