Massive Drug Haul in Ottawa: OPP Seize 86 Parcels in Canada Post Sting Under Project BIONIC

Ottawa, June 10, 2025 — In a major breakthrough against organized crime, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on Tuesday revealed the seizure of 86 suspicious drug-laden parcels from a Canada Post facility in Ottawa. The operation, part of a nationwide probe dubbed Project BIONIC, aims to disrupt the distribution of narcotics through legitimate postal services.

The intercepted packages were seized on March 10, 2025, during a targeted raid at an Ottawa-area Canada Post outlet. While authorities have yet to disclose the specific drugs involved, photographic evidence released by the OPP indicates the presence of fentanyl and MDMA. Alongside the narcotics, investigators recovered firearms, large sums of cash, and luxury vehicles revealing a far-reaching criminal operation involving both drug and auto theft networks.

Two suspects were arrested on-site during the sting, although their names and charges have not been made public pending further investigation. According to police sources, Project BIONIC targets a sophisticated dark web-enabled trafficking syndicate believed to be using Canada Post services to distribute controlled substances across multiple provinces.

The bust also unearthed a dozen stolen high-end vehicles, including at least one Ferrari, along with reprogrammable key fobs pointing to an interconnected criminal enterprise operating in both narcotics and luxury car theft and resale.

Law enforcement officials described the seizure as a critical intervention, potentially preventing thousands of doses of dangerous substances like fentanyl from entering public circulation. The OPP emphasized that the joint investigation involved multiple provincial and federal agencies, though further details on collaboration remain under wraps.

The case underscores ongoing challenges faced by postal and law enforcement systems in identifying and intercepting illicit shipments embedded in legitimate courier infrastructure. However, the successful bust signals that inter-agency coordination and intelligence-sharing remain effective tools in dismantling such networks.

As Project BIONIC expands, further arrests and recoveries are expected, with authorities vowing to bring all involved to justice.
