Manohar Lal Announces Two-Month National Unity Celebrations Across Cities and Villages till December 31

Chandigarh, October 18: Union Minister for Power, Housing, and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal announced that a series of programs will be held across the country to strengthen national unity in honor of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary. The celebrations will begin on October 31, observed as National Unity Day, and continue till December 31 with diverse events in both urban and rural areas.

Addressing a press conference at the Karnal Karnkamal office on Saturday, the Union Minister said that padayatras will be organized in villages and cities on October 25, 26, and 27, covering a distance of 8 to 10 kilometers. These marches will witness participation from a large number of people and youth spreading the message of unity. He added that a Run for Unity will be organized on October 31, followed by two months of events including seminars, exhibitions, and literature distribution aimed at promoting the spirit of national integration among young citizens.

He also mentioned that youth registrations for these events are ongoing through the My Bharat portal. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s previous successful campaigns such as Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Manohar Lal said this new initiative is another step toward strengthening the nation’s unity.

Extending his greetings, the Union Minister wished citizens a joyous celebration of Dhanteras, Diwali, Govardhan Puja, Bhai Dooj, and other festivals. He also congratulated the Haryana government on completing one year of its third term under Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.

Expressing gratitude to the people of Haryana for their support, he noted that the state government recently increased old-age pensions by ₹200 and announced that under the Lado Lakshmi Yojana, ₹2,100 will be transferred directly into beneficiaries’ accounts from November. He emphasized that all welfare scheme payments are being made through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), reflecting the state’s steady progress in development.
