New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): A local court has granted a five-day police remand of the man accused of assaulting Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta during a public hearing on Tuesday.
The attacker, identified as Rajesh, was nabbed immediately after the incident and taken into custody. He was produced before the court later in the day, which approved his remand to allow investigators to probe the reasons behind the attack.
Police said they will interrogate Rajesh to establish his motive, trace his movements before the incident, and check whether others were involved. Authorities have also stepped up security measures around the Chief Minister following the episode.
