Man Charged in 48 Vehicle Break-and-Enters Across Mississauga: Peel Police

Ontario (Rajeev Sharma): Peel Regional Police have arrested and charged a man they allege is responsible for 48 vehicle break-and-enters in Mississauga.

In a news release, police said they received “numerous reports” beginning in December 2025 about vehicle break-ins in the areas of Kimbermount Avenue, Aquitaine Avenue and Regents Terrace.

Investigators from 11 Division’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, with assistance from the BEAR Unit and uniform patrol officers, conducted an extensive investigation into the incidents.

On Jan. 26, police arrested 20-year-old Basil Ass’ad, who is listed as having no fixed address.

He has been charged with:

  • 48 counts of mischief over $5,000
  • Two counts of theft over $5,000
  • Five counts of theft under $5,000
  • Possession of stolen property
  • Fraud under $5,000

Police noted that the allegations have not been tested in court. Ass’ad was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
