Majithia Aide Arrested, Police Secure Two-Day Remand

Chandigarh, January 9, 2026— Following the arrest of senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia, Punjab Police have now arrested one of his close associates in connection with the same case. According to information, the police have taken into custody Davinder Verka, who had been serving as a sewadar at Majithia’s Amritsar residence for the past several years.
Davinder Verka was produced before a court, which granted the police a two-day remand for further questioning.
As per officials, Verka has been arrested in a case registered for allegedly obstructing the functioning of the Vigilance Bureau at the time of Majithia’s arrest. His name figures in the case related to interference in official duties during the Vigilance Bureau’s operation. Police stated that Hardeep Singh alias Davinder Verka, the sewadar, has been sent on a two-day police remand as part of the ongoing investigation.
It is noteworthy that the Punjab Vigilance Bureau had arrested Bikram Singh Majithia on June 25, 2025, from his residence in Amritsar. The case dates back to 2021, when it was registered during the tenure of the Congress government. In this matter, the Vigilance Bureau had booked a total of six people, including Majithia’s former personal assistant.
