Ludhiana (Gurpreet Singh): Ten schools in Ludhiana were placed on high alert on Tuesday after receiving emails warning of potential bomb explosions, prompting swift action by police and security agencies. Journalists in the city were also reportedly targeted with similar messages.
The threatening emails, sent from marammanoubi845@gmail.com
and copied to multiple school addresses including info@drishtischool.com
, pdavldh@rediffmail.com
, and principal.mrisldh@mris.edu.in
, contained alarming messages in Punjabi, referencing past incidents and warning of attacks on children.
In response, school administrations evacuated students as a precaution while police, bomb squads, and dog squads conducted detailed inspections of classrooms, corridors, and school premises. A strong police presence has been deployed outside the schools to ensure safety.
Parents rushed to the schools after hearing about the threats, creating a tense atmosphere. Authorities appealed for calm and urged residents to avoid spreading panic. The cyber cell is actively tracking the email’s IP address to identify the sender and determine whether the threats are part of a prank or a more serious plan.
Police officials confirmed that no suspicious objects have been found so far. Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma said teams are thoroughly checking all schools, while Additional DCP Sameer Verma added that the investigation is ongoing.
This incident comes amid previous similar threats in the region. On February 10, 16 schools in Mohali received bomb threat emails, which also led to extensive searches, though nothing hazardous was discovered.
