Gurpreet Singh :- A jeweller in Ludhiana has allegedly received a threatening message demanding ₹5 crore in extortion from an unidentified sender using a foreign number, triggering concern among the local business community. According to the complaint filed with the police, the victim, identified as Tushar Bhandari, who operates a jewellery shop in the Sarafa Bazaar area, received the message on WhatsApp on March 12.
The complainant stated that shortly after the message, he also received two missed calls from the same international number. The situation escalated when an image was sent via WhatsApp displaying a weapon along with the name of gangster Goldy Brar, creating fear and panic.
Acting swiftly, the jeweller approached the police, following which a case was registered against an unknown individual at the PAU police station. Authorities have initiated an investigation and are currently conducting a technical analysis of the foreign number to trace the origin of the message and identify the person behind the threat.
