Laura Loomer Suggests ‘China Link’ in Signal Chat Leak, Offers No Proof

Washington, March 26, 2025 – Right-wing commentator Laura Loomer has stirred controversy by suggesting a potential “China link” in the recent Signal chat leak involving the Trump administration. However, she did not provide any concrete evidence to support her claims.

Loomer pointed to principal deputy national security advisor Alex Wong’s wife, Candice Chiu Wong, claiming her family ties to Hong Kong could be significant. She noted that Chiu Wong’s parents worked in Hong Kong, and that she previously served as a U.S. Attorney under both Obama and Biden, including work on prosecuting January 6 rioters.

Her social media post came after The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg revealed that top Trump officials had accidentally added him to a Signal chat discussing potential strikes on Houthis. The leak has sparked political tension, with Vice President JD Vance and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dismissing Goldberg’s claim as a “hoax.” Meanwhile, National Security Advisor Mike Waltz admitted, “We made a mistake.”

Russia Angle in the Signal Chat Leak
Amid speculation over foreign involvement, CBS News reported that Trump’s Special Envoy to the Middle East and Ukraine, Steve Witkoff, was in Moscow when he was added to the chat group. While Russian media and flight records confirm his presence in Moscow, it remains unclear whether he used a government or personal phone.

The report also highlighted Russia’s past attempts to compromise Signal, raising further concerns over security breaches. However, Goldberg did not indicate that Witkoff made any statements in the group chat.

As of now, no verified evidence links China or Russia to the Signal leak.
