Laljit Singh Bhullar Quits Punjab Cabinet as Government Orders Inquiry into Amritsar Death Case

Amritsar (Gurpreet Singh): In a significant political development, Laljit Singh Bhullar stepped down from his ministerial post on Saturday after directions from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, following the reported suicide of a senior official in Amritsar.

Bhullar, an MLA from the Patti constituency, submitted his resignation amid rising scrutiny over the circumstances linked to the death of a district manager associated with the state’s Warehouse Corporation. The incident has triggered concerns within administrative and political circles.

Acting promptly, the Chief Minister ordered a formal investigation into the matter and asked the Chief Secretary to conduct a comprehensive probe. The government has indicated that it intends to ensure transparency and determine whether any undue pressure or misconduct played a role in the incident.

While officials have not yet disclosed detailed findings, the case has drawn public and political attention, with calls for accountability and a fair inquiry gaining momentum.

The resignation is being viewed as a precautionary step as the state government seeks to maintain credibility while the investigation unfolds. Authorities said further action will depend on the outcome of the probe, which is expected to shed light on the factors leading to the tragic death.
