Lalit Modi, Vijay Mallya Sing “I Did It My Way” at London Bash, Sparking Outrage

London/New Delhi, July 5 — Fugitive businessmen Lalit Modi and Vijay Mallya have ignited a fresh wave of public anger after a video surfaced of the duo singing Frank Sinatra’s classic “I Did It My Way” at a lavish party hosted by Modi in London.

The video, shared by Modi himself on Instagram, quickly went viral and has drawn sharp criticism online, with many questioning how individuals wanted by Indian law enforcement continue to live extravagantly abroad.

The glitzy gathering reportedly featured over 310 guests, including celebrities, friends, and family from around the world. Former Royal Challengers Bangalore cricketer Chris Gayle was also in attendance, posting an Instagram story with a photo alongside Modi and Mallya. “We living it up. Thanks for a lovely evening,” Gayle wrote, tagging both men.

Modi, the former IPL commissioner, posted the video with a typically provocative caption:

“Had an amazing night with 310 friends and family… Thank you to one and all who attended this evening and made it one of the most special nights for me. Hope this video doesn’t break the internet. Controversial for sure. But that’s what I do best.”

Social media users reacted with outrage, condemning the ostentatious display by the two businessmen who remain wanted by Indian authorities.

Vijay Mallya faces charges related to a ₹9,000 crore loan default case and has been residing in the UK for years while fighting extradition proceedings. Lalit Modi, meanwhile, is sought for alleged financial irregularities tied to his tenure with the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Despite India’s repeated efforts to bring both men back to face justice, their presence at high-profile social events in London has raised questions about loopholes in international legal processes and the challenges of extradition.

The viral video has reignited debates about fugitive economic offenders enjoying comfortable lives overseas even as legal proceedings drag on back home.
