Labour organizations express gratitude to CM Nayab Singh Saini for historic increase in minimum wages in Haryana

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): A delegation of various labour organizations, including the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, met Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini and expressed their gratitude for the historic increase in minimum wages.

The meeting with the Chief Minister took place at Sant Kabir Kutir residence, during which the delegation was led by Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh All India Vice President Pawan Kumar. Members of the delegation also honoured Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini by presenting him with a turban. They also offered him sweets on the occasion.

Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the Haryana Government is always committed to protecting the interests of workers and ensuring their welfare. The objective of the government is to economically empower the labour class of the state and improve their standard of living.

Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh All India Vice President Sh. Pawan Kumar said that the Haryana Government has taken a major step in the interest of workers. Based on the report of the expert committee of the Minimum Wage Advisory Board, the government had announced an increase in minimum wages in the budget. Recently, the government has increased the minimum wage of unskilled workers to approximately ₹15,220 per month, which is an increase of about 35 percent. This increase amounts to more than ₹4,000. This decision has brought a wave of happiness among the labour class in the state. Representatives of labour organizations said that such a significant wage increase has happened for the first time in Haryana, which will directly benefit lakhs of workers. They also requested the Chief Minister to organize a public felicitation ceremony, which he gladly accepted and assured to give time for.

Present at the meeting, Principal Secretary of Haryana Labour Department. Sh. Rajiv Ranjan described this as a historic step in the interest of workers and said that Haryana is the first in the country to increase minimum wages under the new labour laws. This will benefit workers across all categories. The government has already issued its notification.

Joint Labour Commissioner Sh. Paramjeet Singh, State President Sh. Ashok Kumar and General Secretary Sh. Hawa Singh were also present on the occasion.
