Ontario (Rajeev Sharma): A 45-year-old woman of Punjabi origin, Nancy Grewal, has died after being stabbed at her residence in LaSalle, Ontario, Canadian authorities confirmed, launching a homicide investigation into the incident.

Officers from the LaSalle Police Service responded to an emergency call at the house where Grewal was discovered suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was quickly transported by Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital. Despite medical efforts, she later succumbed to her injuries.

Life and background

Grewal had been active on social media and was known for sharing strong opinions on various political and social topics. Her online profiles suggested she had studied in Sirsa during her early years and later attended Satluj Public School. She also mentioned pursuing higher education at what she described online as a “national college.”

Originally associated with Ludhiana in India, Grewal had moved abroad and spent some time living in Calgary in Alberta before relocating to the Windsor-LaSalle area in Ontario.

Local reports indicate she also created online video content, with some sources referring to her as a Punjabi-origin YouTuber. However, information about the reach and style of her content differs across platforms.

Grewal’s posts often focused on political developments, particularly the strained diplomatic relationship between India and Canada. She had publicly voiced criticism of individuals linked to the Khalistan movement.

Her comments included sharp remarks about activist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and criticism of policies and actions by the Canadian government under Prime Minister Justin Trudeau regarding separatist-related issues.

Police officials have confirmed that the case is being treated as a homicide. At present, investigators believe the incident does not pose a broader risk to the public and appears to be an isolated occurrence.

Authorities have appealed to residents in nearby areas to check surveillance systems, including doorbell cameras and vehicle dashcams, for any recordings that may assist the investigation. Individuals with information have been asked to contact Detective Sergeant Jamie Nestor or provide tips through Crime Stoppers.
