‘Khana Peena Bhul Jandiyan, Putt Marre Ni Bhuldiyan Mavaan”: Rajvir Jawanda’s song turns heartbreaking after untimely death

National Times Bureau :- There are voices that live beyond time, and Rajvir Jawanda’s is one of them. His songs carried the warmth of Punjab, the pride of its soil, and the emotions of its people. But today, one of his own lines — “Khana peena bhul jandiyan, putt marre ni bhuldiyan mavaan” — feels painfully prophetic. It echoes differently now, piercing every heart. For his mother, this line will forever be a haunting truth.

Rajvir Jawanda, the beloved Punjabi singer and actor, passed away 11 days after suffering severe head and spinal injuries in a tragic road accident on September 27. He was placed on a ventilator, battling for life, while fans across the world prayed for his recovery. Despite all efforts, he breathed his last, leaving behind his wife, two young children, and his grieving mother. His father had passed away a few years earlier, making this loss even more unbearable for the family.

Before fame embraced him, Rajvir Jawanda served as a police officer in the Punjab Police, a symbol of discipline and humility. But his passion for music was undeniable. In 2019, he chose the uncertain road of art over the security of uniform, a decision that made him one of the most loved voices in Punjabi music.

His songs — Kali Jawande Di, Mera Dil, Sardari, Kangani, Landlord, and Shokeen — were not just tunes; they were emotions that connected deeply with the youth and the heart of Punjab. Rajvir’s voice celebrated love, valour, and the simple joys of life. His performances carried honesty, his lyrics sincerity.

He was also a talented actor, remembered for his roles in Subedar Joginder Singh (2018), Jind Jaan (2019), and Mindo Taseeldarni (2019). Whether in uniform on-screen or behind a microphone, Rajvir reflected integrity and strength.

But destiny had other plans. A cruel twist on a late September day silenced a voice that once united millions. As news of his passing spread, an entire generation of fans, artists, and admirers mourned — not just a singer, but a son of Punjab.

Today, his melodies feel heavier, soaked in longing. His mother’s tears will never dry; his children will grow up listening to the father they can no longer see. Yet, his legacy will never fade. Through every speaker that plays his songs, Rajvir will live on — vibrant, soulful, eternal.

Rajvir Jawanda is gone, but his words remain etched in every mother’s heart: “Khana peena bhul jandiyan, putt marre ni bhuldiyan mavaan.”

Rest in peace, Rajvir. Your voice will forever echo in Punjab’s heart.
