Ludhiana, April 2, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has called upon Punjab’s youth to take an active role in eradicating the drug menace from the state. Speaking at an awareness march against drugs, Kejriwal urged young people to reject drugs and help authorities fight the crisis.
He warned that if the issue is not tackled decisively, it could lead to devastating consequences for future generations. Accusing previous governments of shielding drug cartels, Kejriwal claimed that corrupt political leaders had allowed the trade to flourish for financial gains. He vowed that such leaders would not be forgiven by either the people or God.
Kejriwal highlighted the AAP-led Punjab government’s recent actions against drug traffickers. He stated that in just 30 days, authorities had taken strong measures, including demolishing properties of smugglers and arresting those involved in drug peddling. He assured that all drug traffickers would be punished under the law.
Applauding the efforts of security agencies, he said they were dismantling drug supply networks and cracking down on peddlers. He also mentioned that properties of drug dealers were being seized to ensure strict action against those profiting from illegal trade.
Kejriwal urged residents to report any drug-related activities through the government’s WhatsApp helpline (9779100200). He called on youth to pledge that they would neither consume nor allow the sale of drugs in their localities.
To rehabilitate drug victims, Kejriwal highlighted the government’s Outpatient Opioid Assisted Treatment (OOAT) Program and the expansion of de-addiction centers across Punjab. He also announced initiatives to promote sports and fitness, including the establishment of gyms and playgrounds in villages.
Kejriwal emphasized that eliminating drugs from Punjab required collective effort and urged every citizen to contribute to making the state drug-free.
