National Times Bureau :- Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Agrawal has issued a stern warning to traders against hoarding essential commodities and overcharging consumers during the ongoing flood crisis in Punjab. He stated that reports have emerged of certain shopkeepers selling groceries, vegetables, fruits, and other necessities at inflated prices, taking undue advantage of the situation.
Dr. Agrawal emphasized that the administration will take strict action against such profiteers and ensure the timely availability of essential goods at fair rates to the public. He directed the Food and Civil Supplies Department to keep a close watch on markets and conduct regular inspections to prevent hoarding and unwarranted price hikes.
Appealing to traders, Dr. Agrawal urged them to fulfill their moral responsibility during this difficult time and provide goods at reasonable prices instead of exploiting people. He also requested citizens to report any such malpractice directly to the administration so that immediate action could be taken.
