Jagmeet Singh Slams Trump’s Trade War, Urges Canadians to Boycott American Goods

Ottawa, Canada, March 7, 2025: Canadian politician Jagmeet Singh has taken a strong stance against the former U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade policies, calling them both “illegal” and “stupid.” In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Singh accused Trump of launching an unfair trade war that would ultimately harm Americans themselves.

“Canada never wanted this fight,” he wrote, emphasizing that his country stands united in defending its economic interests. He also urged Canadians to fight back by supporting local products and avoiding American goods. “Sign the pledge: Buy Canadian. Boycott American,” he declared.

Singh’s remarks come amid rising tensions between Canada and the U.S. over trade tariffs. While Trump has yet to respond, Singh’s call for economic retaliation is already sparking debate. Will Canadians rally behind his boycott movement, or will diplomatic efforts find a way to ease tensions? Only time will tell.
