ISI-Linked Terror Cell Busted in Punjab, Two Suspects Apprehended

Gurdaspur (Gurpreet Singh): In a significant security operation, the Punjab Police, along with central intelligence agencies, has uncovered an ISI-backed terror module allegedly orchestrated by a foreign-based handler. The operation, conducted jointly by District Amritsar Rural Police, District Gurdaspur Police, and SSOC Amritsar, led to the arrest of two individuals connected to the network.

Officials reported the recovery of an arsenal of explosives and attack-preparation materials, including five hand grenades, two special detonators, a PTT timer with coder and decoder, a 9V battery, and 1 kilogram of high explosives packed with nails. Additionally, a Baofeng walkie-talkie with cable and trigger mechanism was seized, indicating plans for sophisticated assaults targeting public safety.

An FIR has been registered at PS Kalanaur, Gurdaspur under the Explosive Substances Act, and authorities are probing the module’s connections to foreign handlers as well as potential local collaborators.

Punjab Police stated that the operation demonstrates their unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in the state, adding that all necessary steps are being taken to prevent threats and safeguard residents from terror-related activities.
