Irrigation Minister Shruti Choudhry Fast-Tracks 33.78 Crore Rupee Canal Overhaul and Water Management Infrastructure in Bhiwani

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The infrastructure development of Haryana’s rural landscape has received a significant boost with the state government accelerating water distribution projects in the Bhiwani district. Haryana Cabinet Minister for Irrigation and Water Resources, alongside Women and Child Development, Shruti Choudhry, announced the mobilization of a massive capital outlay of 33.78 crore rupees dedicated to modernizing, remodeling, and strengthening the regional canal network. The extensive public works initiative is strategically engineered to optimize water conservation and resolve long-standing irrigation challenges within the Tosham Assembly constituency, ensuring that critical water supplies effectively reach tail-end agricultural fields.

The multi-crore structural upgrade focuses primarily on the extensive re-engineering and lining of essential local distribution channels. Under the approved technical blueprint, the state irrigation department is initiating comprehensive remodeling operations across the Alampur minor, Thilod distributary, Dadam distributary, Dadam hill minor, and Jhanwari distributary. These channels are vital to the rural agricultural economy of Bhiwani, and their structural overhaul will significantly prevent transit water loss caused by seepage, thereby maximizing water flow to rural areas. Additionally, the project includes the concrete lining of the Hetampura minor and the execution of a complete restoration drive for the Sisar minor.

In tandem with canal restructuring, a significant portion of the allocated 33.78 crore rupees will be deployed toward upgrading civil transit infrastructure and rural pipeline connectivity. The PWD and irrigation wings are collaborating to construct specialized modern bridges across the Nigana canal and the Nigana feeder to improve rural connectivity and ensure seamless transport links for local farmers. Furthermore, to address severe drinking water and irrigation requirements in localized patches, the government is laying a high-durability underground Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) pipeline stretching from local supply points directly to the Seetuvala pond area in Pataudi Kalan village.

The announcement has triggered widespread appreciation from regional agricultural communities, village panchayats, and local political leaders. Highlighting the collective impact of the decision, Advocate Hari Singh Sangwan, speaking as the official representative for Minister Shruti Choudhry and former Member of Parliament Kiran Choudhry, extended gratitude toward Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for sanctioning the comprehensive financial package. Accompanied by prominent community leaders, including Pradeep Golagarh, Panchayat Samiti Vice-Chairman Sunil Bhariwas, and BJP State Executive Member Rajkumar Jangra, the delegation stated that the focus on tail-end delivery and underground water infrastructure will structurally safeguard crop yields and elevate the economic status of thousands of farming households throughout the district.
