Industrialists Back Sanjeev Arora, Promise ‘Return Gift’ of Victory in Ludhiana (West) Bypoll

Ludhiana, April 11, 2025 — Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora received strong support from the city’s industrial community during a Thursday evening interaction, where manufacturers pledged to ensure his win in the upcoming Ludhiana (West) assembly bypoll. Arora, fielded by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), was hailed for his proactive efforts toward industrial development.

The event, hosted by the G-13 Bicycle Forum — a prominent association of small and medium bicycle manufacturers — saw industrialists unanimously endorse Arora. They appreciated his consistent accessibility and effectiveness in addressing their concerns.

Harsimerjit Singh Lucky, President of the United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association (UCPMA), said he had been closely working with Arora over the past year and praised his dedication to Ludhiana’s and Punjab’s broader industrial growth. “He sets an example for other politicians,” Lucky said, adding that Arora’s sincerity has earned him respect across sectors.

During the session, Arora patiently listened to various demands, including the creation of a governing council at the R&D Centre for Bicycle & Sewing and the establishment of an exhibition center in or around Ludhiana. He urged industrial associations to submit formal proposals, assuring them that he would follow up with the state government and help provide land if needed.

Arora also promised to resolve pending issues like sewerage problems swiftly and take up the matter of unpaid freight subsidies for 2023–24, asking exporters to share full details.

In his address, Arora highlighted his work over the past three years and emphasized the state government’s commitment under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to support both large and small industries. He pointed out the state budget’s increased industrial incentives — ₹245 crore this fiscal year, compared to ₹95 crore last year — as proof of Punjab’s industrial progress.

Prominent industrialists including JR Singal, Rajinder Jindal, Pankaj Sharma, Sanjiv Pahwa, Vipan Mittal, Rohit Pahwa, RD Sharma, and Sunil Sachdeva attended the gathering.
