New Delhi, December 7, 2025— IndiGo has refunded ₹610 crore so far for flights that were cancelled or severely delayed during the recent operational crisis, the civil aviation ministry said on Sunday. The government also confirmed that the airline has delivered around 3,000 misplaced baggage items to passengers across the country.
The ministry said India’s aviation network is moving quickly towards full normalcy and that all corrective steps will remain in place until operations stabilise completely. On Saturday, the government instructed IndiGo to complete the entire ticket refund process for cancelled flights by Sunday evening and ensure that all separated baggage is returned to passengers within 48 hours.
According to the ministry, IndiGo is not allowed to charge additional fees for rescheduling travel affected by cancellations or extreme delays. It added that special support teams have been set up to help passengers resolve refund and rebooking issues without delays or inconvenience.
The ministry said it has taken “rapid and decisive steps” to minimise the impact of the disruptions and prevent further inconvenience to travellers. It noted that flight operations across India are stabilising at a fast rate, with all other domestic airlines operating normally and at full capacity.
IndiGo’s flight operations, which had dropped sharply due to the crisis, have shown steady recovery. The airline operated 706 flights on Friday and increased that number to 1,565 on Saturday. Operations were expected to reach nearly 1,650 flights by the end of Sunday.
The ministry said continuous communication with passengers remains mandatory throughout the recovery process. With intensified efforts, IndiGo has already managed to return 3,000 pieces of baggage to affected travellers as of Saturday.
