Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir – March 12, 2025 – An Indian Army soldier was injured in a suspected sniper attack along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kalsian sector of Nowshera, Rajouri district, on Wednesday morning. The attack has heightened tensions in the region, prompting a swift response from the Indian Army.
Attack and Immediate Response
The soldier was stationed at a forward post when he was struck by a sniper bullet, allegedly fired from across the border. Fellow soldiers immediately provided first aid before the injured soldier was airlifted to the Command Hospital in Udhampur for advanced medical care. His condition remains stable, according to military sources.
Military’s Action and Investigation
Following the attack, the Indian Army launched a search operation in the area to track down any infiltrators and secure the border zone. Military officials suspect that the attack was a deliberate attempt to disrupt peace along the LoC.
“We are investigating the origin of the attack and are prepared to respond appropriately,” a senior defense official stated. Additional troops have been deployed to bolster security and prevent further incidents.
Regional Tensions Rise
The incident has raised concerns about renewed cross-border hostilities. In recent months, ceasefire violations and cross-border firing incidents have been reported in the region, adding to the challenges faced by security forces along the sensitive LoC.
Security forces remain on high alert, with intelligence agencies closely monitoring the situation for any further signs of escalation.
