India Slams Pakistan Over Andrabi Verdict Remarks, Says ‘No Locus Standi’ in Judicial Matters

New Delhi (Gurpreet Singh): India on Wednesday strongly rejected Pakistan’s criticism of the sentencing of Kashmiri separatist leader Asiya Andrabi, asserting that Islamabad has “no locus standi” to comment on the country’s internal judicial processes.
Responding to the remarks, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said New Delhi “categorically rejects” Pakistan’s statement, accusing it of supporting terrorism and condoning violence.
“Pakistan has no locus standi to comment on matters internal to India or its judicial processes. It is not surprising that a country with a history of sponsoring terrorism has issued such a statement,” he said.
The reaction came after a Delhi court sentenced Asiya Andrabi, founder of the banned outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat, to life imprisonment under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. Her associates, Nahida Nasreen and Fehmeeda Sofi, were awarded 30-year jail terms.
The trio had been convicted earlier this year in a case linked to anti-national activities, including promoting secessionist ideology and conspiring against the state. The case was investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which secured convictions under multiple provisions of anti-terror laws.
Pakistan had termed the verdict a “grave miscarriage of justice” and called for international intervention, alleging suppression of rights in Jammu and Kashmir.
India dismissed the allegations, urging Pakistan to “introspect” on its own record of human rights violations instead of commenting on India’s judicial decisions.
