India Dismisses Reference to PM Modi in Jeffrey Epstein Files as Baseless

New Delhi (Rajeev Sharma): India on Saturday firmly rejected a reference to Prime Minister Narendra Modi contained in investigative documents linked to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, calling it unfounded and contemptible.

Responding to reports about the mention, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the government had taken note of an email cited in the recently released “Epstein files,” which alluded to the Prime Minister’s visit to Israel.

“We have seen reports of an email message from the so-called Epstein files that makes a reference to the Prime Minister and his visit to Israel,” Jaiswal said in an official statement. He clarified that apart from the factual detail of Prime Minister Modi’s official visit to Israel in July 2017, the remaining claims in the email were entirely without merit.

“Beyond this factual visit, the rest of the references are nothing more than baseless and vulgar musings by a convicted criminal, which should be rejected with the utmost contempt,” he added.

The email in question is part of a large set of investigative records made public by the United States Justice Department on Friday. The release follows a U.S. law passed by Congress mandating the disclosure of such material.

According to U.S. authorities, the disclosure includes approximately 3.5 million pages of documents and around 2,000 videos connected to the Epstein investigation. Indian officials emphasized that the mention of the Prime Minister carries no credibility and should not be given any significance.
