Vancouver (Rajeev Sharma): The Consulate General of India in Vancouver has issued a public notice announcing the full digitization of the Disembarkation Card process for all foreign nationals entering India. The move is aimed at streamlining immigration procedures and improving the efficiency of passenger processing at Indian airports.
According to the notice, all foreign travelers to India are now required to complete and submit the Disembarkation Card online before their arrival. The card can be filled through the following platforms:
- The Bureau of Immigration (BOI) website: https://boi.gov.in
- The Indian Visa portal: https://indianvisaonline.gov.in
- The “Indian Visa Su-Swagatam” mobile app
The online form must be submitted at least 72 hours prior to arrival in India.

While the digital option is being emphasized, the consulate clarified that physical submission of the Disembarkation Card will still be accepted for a limited transition period of up to six months, or until further notice. However, travelers are strongly encouraged to opt for the digital method to avoid delays or complications.
The move comes as part of India’s broader efforts to modernize its immigration systems and enhance convenience for international passengers. The Consulate has urged all travelers to comply with the new guidelines to ensure a smooth entry process.
