In View of Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid), Haryana Police Issues Directions to Maintain Law and Order


Chandigarh, 5 June: In view of the upcoming Eid-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) festival, Haryana Police has issued comprehensive guidelines to maintain law and order across the state. The festival will be celebrated on 7th, 8th, and 9th June, depending upon visibility of crescent moon. Police Headquarters has instructed all Police Commissioners, District Superintendents of Police, and field units to remain vigilant and ensure communal harmony.

Director General of Police Shatrujeet Kapur has emphasized that maintaining peace, law, and order in the state is of utmost priority, and officers have been directed to ensure a harmonious atmosphere at all costs.

Instructions for Vigilance and Advance Preparation

The Office of the Director General of Police has directed that meetings with peace committees be held at the district level and that advance monitoring of the law and order situation be ensured. It must be ensured that no untoward incident occurs during the festival.

Call for Strict Surveillance on Anti-social Elements

The order clearly states that special attention must be paid to the activities of anti-social elements and individuals who may attempt to disturb communal harmony. All sensitive areas should be identified, and special security arrangements must be ensured there.

Adequate Deployment of Force and Checkpoints

Instructions have been given for adequate deployment of police personnel and for setting up checkpoints at religious places and sensitive areas to ensure swift response in case of any emergency.

Directive to Keep Intelligence Network Alert

All intelligence units across the state have been instructed to remain active and provide timely, accurate, and effective inputs so that police forces can take prompt action.
Monitoring of Social Media and Legal Action
During the festival, monitoring on social media platforms will be intensified. Strict legal action will be taken against those posting inflammatory content or violating the law.

Responsibility of Supervision Assigned to Senior Officers

Senior officers deployed in the field have been instructed to brief the police force properly before deployment and to personally supervise the situation on the ground. It must also be ensured by the officers that all instructions are fully complied with.

Appeal to Maintain Peace and Harmony During the Festival

Police Headquarters has also directed compliance with the guidelines issued by the Government of India on 05.12.2014 (Letter No. 25500-30/OPS-1), which aim to preserve communal harmony during festivals.
