Hyderabad, July 8, 2025 — Four members of a family originally from Hyderabad have died in a tragic car crash in Greene County, Alabama, in the United States, their relatives confirmed on Tuesday.
The victims B Srivenkat, his wife Tejaswini, and their two children—were returning to Dallas from Atlanta when a truck, reportedly speeding in the wrong direction, collided head-on with their car late Saturday night (local time).
“The family my brother’s daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren had been living in Dallas for the past three years,” a grieving relative told a local television channel.
According to media reports, the impact caused the car to burst into flames, leaving it completely burned. “We’ve been told that teeth and bones were recovered from the vehicle. Some half-burnt certificates were also found, which helped authorities begin the process of identifying the victims. Forensic examination results are expected within 48 to 72 hours,” the relative added.
The incident has left the family shattered, especially amid revelations that the accident might have been preventable. “We came to know there were 26 calls to the police about the truck driving on the wrong route. Had immediate action been taken, our people might have survived,” said the relative.
The couple had been working in the US and recently bought a house there. Their extended family resides in the Kompally area of Hyderabad. Some relatives are now preparing to travel to the US to handle the aftermath of the tragedy.
Local authorities in Alabama are continuing their investigation into the fatal crash.
