Chandigarh (Rajeev Sharma): In a decision that has delighted students across the city, Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria has declared Monday, August 18, as a holiday for all schools in the Union Territory. The order applies to every Government, Government-Aided, and Private school operating in Chandigarh.
This announcement means students will have a rare four-day weekend in August. With Independence Day on August 15 (Friday), Janmashtami on August 16 (Saturday), the regular Sunday break on August 17, and the newly added holiday on August 18 (Monday), learners will enjoy an uninterrupted stretch of time off.
The extended break is expected to give students and teachers a welcome pause from the regular routine, while many families may take the opportunity for travel or festive gatherings.
