Heritage and City Walk 2026 Emerges as a Powerful Medium to Connect with Haryana’s Vibrant Legacy

Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Haryana Tourism Corporation successfully organized the “Heritage and City Walk 2026” across seven prominent historical locations in the state under its unique campaign theme, “Come, Let’s Walk with Our Heritage.” Held on May 30, the primary objective of this mass outreach initiative was to introduce the younger generation and modern civil society to the rich cultural, historic, and architectural tapestry that defines Haryana.

Through these specially curated walking tours, participants received an opportunity to closely observe and comprehend the monuments, traditions, and historical milestones shaping the state’s cultural identity. Led by regional historians and heritage experts, the walks allowed attendees to gather detailed insights, architectural facts, and fascinating historical narratives associated with each specialized site.

Haryana Tourism and Heritage Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma attended the flagship event as the chief guest, joining the walk spanning from Ethnic India Rai to the Badkhalsa Memorial in Rai, Sonipat. Addressing the gathering, Minister Sharma stated that the preservation and promotion of cultural landmarks remain absolutely essential for future generations. He added that community events of this nature play an instrumental role in cultivating historical awareness among local youth.

A spokesperson for the Haryana Tourism Corporation detailed that the walks were concurrently organized at major tourist hubs. These included routes from the Surajkund Reservoir to the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary in Faridabad, and from the Sandpiper Tourist Complex to Bada Talab in Rewari, where local MLA Laxman Singh Yadav attended as the chief guest. Tours were also conducted across Pinjore and Panchkula, Morni Hills, Kurukshetra, and Ballabhgarh. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from students, history enthusiasts, tourists, and environmentalists.

This marks the second major iteration of the heritage walk series initiated by the corporation, following the massive success of its inaugural edition launched on World Tourism Day on September 27, 2024. Through the 2026 edition, Haryana Tourism reaffirmed its long-term commitment to sustainable tourism, cultural preservation, and bridging the evolutionary gap between modern youth and regional antiquity.
