Mumbai (Rajeev Sharma): Veteran actress Hema Malini has called out misleading online reports claiming the death of her husband, legendary actor Dharmendra. The actress took to social media on Tuesday to clarify that the 89-year-old star is alive, stable, and showing positive signs of recovery.
In a strongly worded post on X (formerly Twitter), Hema Malini criticised sections of the media for spreading “false and hurtful” information. “It’s shocking and unacceptable that such fake news is being circulated about someone who is very much with us and responding to treatment. Please respect our family’s privacy and show some sensitivity,” she wrote.
Her statement followed a similar clarification from their daughter, Esha Deol, who had earlier dismissed the death rumours through an Instagram story. “Papa is doing better and recovering with medical care. The constant spread of unverified news is distressing. We request everyone to stop sharing these false claims and keep him in their prayers,” Esha’s message read.
Dharmendra, who was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after complaining of breathlessness, is currently under observation and receiving treatment. Family sources confirmed that doctors are monitoring his condition closely.
Sunny Deol, Dharmendra’s elder son, also issued a brief public note on Monday night. “My father’s condition is stable. Please don’t pay attention to any fake updates. We are grateful for your prayers and support,” his statement read.
Following reports of the actor’s ill health, several film industry colleagues—including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Govinda—visited the hospital to express their concern and support for the Deol family.
As speculation continues to swirl online, Hema Malini has urged fans and media outlets alike to rely only on verified information. “Such rumours cause unnecessary panic and pain. We appreciate everyone’s love, but please, let truth and respect prevail,” she concluded.
