Heated Exchange Erupts as Bikram Majithia, Vigilance Bureau Officials Clash Over Alleged “Trespassing” During Raid

Amritsar (National Times): Tensions flared on Wednesday morning when a team of over 25 officials from the Punjab Vigilance Bureau raided the residence of senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former cabinet minister Bikram Singh Majithia in Majitha, near Amritsar.

The raid, reportedly part of an ongoing investigation into alleged financial irregularities, quickly escalated into a verbal standoff as Majithia and his family accused the officials of “trespassing” and using excessive force.

According to sources, the officials entered Majithia’s residence around 7 a.m. and instructed him to cooperate with the investigation. However, the situation turned contentious when SAD MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia, Bikram Majithia’s wife, rushed to the scene and confronted the officers. She was seen arguing with them and demanding to know why they entered the house without proper notice or prior intimation.

“Are you treating this like a criminal’s house? This is not the way a public representative’s residence is entered. You cannot barge in like this without informing us,” she reportedly told the officials, accusing them of violating protocol and dignity.

The standoff prompted the arrival of senior police officers to the residence, who attempted to calm the situation. They reportedly urged Bikram Majithia to cooperate with the proceedings and assured the family that the investigation would proceed as per legal norms.
