Chandigarh (Balwinder Singh): The Government of Haryana has announced a series of major incentives and financial upgrades aimed at empowering School Management Committees (SMCs) across the state. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini declared that the best-performing SMCs at the block level will receive a reward of 10 lakh rupees, which must be utilized for the overall development of their respective schools. The evaluation and selection of the top committees will be conducted through the newly launched “SACH” portal, which is designed to monitor and assess the performance of government schools effectively.
In a significant move to reduce bureaucratic delays, the state government has granted fresh financial autonomy to these committees. All SMCs will now have the authority to independently spend up to one lakh rupees on urgent, minor works such as repairing drinking water tanks, fixing toilets, and restoring school boundary walls. For larger development projects, the committees can spend up to 25 lakh rupees, subject to the formal approval of the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC).
The announcements were made during a state-level interaction hosted by the Chief Minister at Haryana Niwas in Chandigarh. Connecting with SMC representatives from every district via video conferencing, the Chief Minister held detailed discussions regarding cleanliness, drinking water facilities, student enrollment, board exam results, and enrollment in special programs like Super-100 and Buniyad. Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, who was also present at the event, lauded the committees as crucial links in the education system and urged them to actively boost student registrations.
Aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of qualitative and value-based education, the Haryana government emphasized that the nation’s greatest strength lies in its educational foundation. School heads and teachers were further encouraged to promote environmental awareness by leading plantation drives, specifically urging students to plant a sapling under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative. Senior administrative officials have also been directed to conduct regular inspections of government institutions to maintain high educational standards.
