Haryana to Emerge as Hub of Industrial Growth: Minister Rao Narbir Singh

Chandigarh, October 25 — Haryana’s Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh stated that no country can achieve true development without a strong industrial base. To give the agriculture-dominated state a new industrial identity, the Haryana government has prepared a comprehensive five-year industrial roadmap, under which 10 new Industrial Model Townships (IMTs) will be developed, including two around Gurugram. Additionally, a “Global Investment Summit” will be organized in Gurugram on the occasion of Non-Resident Indian (NRI) Day, inviting investors from across the world to set up industries in the state.

Gurugram: A Model City of Industrial and Environmental Development

The Minister highlighted that Gurugram has evolved into a global city, reflecting not just India but a glimpse of the world. The government aims to make it a model for both industrial growth and environmental balance. Under the “Green Gurugram Initiative,” large industrial companies will be engaged to contribute via CSR funds to support environmental sustainability projects.

High-Tech Nurseries to Beautify Gurugram and Sohna

Rao Narbir Singh said the Forest Department plans to develop all nurseries in Gurugram and Sohna as high-tech model nurseries. These nurseries will cultivate plants that can be transplanted across the city within one to two years. The initiative will take cues from advanced nursery models in South India to create modern, sustainable nurseries in Haryana.

Boosting Entrepreneurship: ₹5,064 Crore Loans Sanctioned Under PMEGP

The Minister emphasized that the state government is strengthening the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) to provide financial assistance to new enterprises. In the financial year 2024-25, over 761 cases were approved, and banks have sanctioned a total of approximately ₹5,064.40 crore in loans to entrepreneurs.

Agriculture and Industry: Two Pillars of Growth

Rao Narbir Singh stated that Haryana has historically led the Green Revolution and now aims to become a symbol of industrial advancement. Industry and agriculture are complementary, and both sectors are being promoted simultaneously. Under the Prime Minister Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme, over 1,300 applications have been approved, boosting food processing industries and creating new employment opportunities in rural areas.
