Chandigarh, June 5 – In a major push to promote natural farming in Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini made a series of significant announcements on the occasion of World Environment Day. Addressing the Natural Farming Conference at Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University in Hisar, the CM announced the establishment of dedicated natural and organic markets in Gurugram and Hisar for the sale of food grains, fruits, and vegetables produced through natural and organic farming.
To ensure fair pricing for naturally grown produce, a new committee will be formed under the Haryana Kisan Kalyan Authority. Furthermore, farmers will receive financial assistance of ₹20,000 each for branding and packaging their naturally grown products. Laboratories will also be set up to test these products, offering free testing services for farmers.
The Chief Minister announced that 53 acres of agricultural land owned by the Agriculture Department in Pundri (Kaithal) will be leased to natural farmers through an auction process. In addition, 10% of village common lands or at least one acre per panchayat will be reserved exclusively for natural farming and leased to landless farmers.
Farmers engaged in natural farming on government or panchayat land will receive ₹3,000 each for purchasing four drums for storing raw materials. A subsidy of ₹30,000 will be given for the purchase of a desi (indigenous) cow.
CM Saini emphasized that natural farming is not only a new direction for Haryana’s agriculture but also an inspiration for the entire country. He pointed out that while India is self-sufficient in food grains, it has come at the cost of heavy reliance on chemical fertilizers, which have polluted soil, water, and air. Natural farming offers a sustainable and healthier alternative for future generations.
He shared that since the launch of the Natural Farming Scheme in 2022, a provision of ₹97 crore has been made and continues to increase yearly. A dedicated portal for natural farming has been launched, with 1,84,665 farmers registering over 2,73,955 acres of land. Verification has been completed for 10,550 farmers practicing natural farming on 17,087 acres.
The government aims to bring 1 lakh acres under natural farming by 2025–26. So far, 720 farmer gatherings, 22 workshops, and one state-level fair have been organized, with over 35,000 participants. Training centers have been established in Kurukshetra, Jind, Sirsa, and Karnal to educate farmers in natural farming practices.
Under the desi cow subsidy scheme, ₹1.23 crore has been disbursed to farmers for the purchase of 492 cows. ₹75 lakh has also been distributed to 2,500 farmers for drum purchases.

CM Saini also highlighted the “Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan,” launched on May 29 from Kurukshetra under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s guidance. This campaign, running until June 12, aims to connect farmers with natural farming and technological innovations.
Governor Acharya Devvrat, a staunch supporter of natural farming, addressed the gathering and stressed that this farming method is the need of the hour. He raised concerns about the rising health risks posed by chemical-based farming, including cancer, diabetes, and heart disease.
Sharing his personal experiences, Devvrat emphasized the benefits of natural farming in preserving soil fertility, conserving water, lowering production costs, and producing nutritious food without compromising yield. He urged farmers to participate in the National Mission on Natural Farming, which has allocated ₹1,481 crore for 2025–26 with the aim of reaching one crore farmers across India.
Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana praised both CM Saini and Acharya Devvrat for their dedicated efforts. He called upon farmers to adopt natural farming and contribute to building a healthier nation.
The event was attended by Cabinet Minister Ranbir Gangwa, MLAs Savitri Jindal, Randhir Panihar, Vinod Bhayana, former Minister Dr. Kamal Gupta, and senior officials from the Agriculture Department.
