Haryana Shifts Bill Processing and Approvals to Digital HEWP Portal

Chandigarh, September 3 – The Haryana government has directed treasury and local audit officials posted in municipal corporations, councils, and committees across the state to discontinue physical file processing. All bill-related procedures, approvals, and monitoring will now be carried out exclusively through the Haryana Engineering Works Portal (HEWP).

Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, who also holds the additional charge of the Finance Department, issued a letter formalizing the directive.

According to the communication, the government found that physical exchange of files not only causes delays but also undermines the state’s objective of ensuring good governance through modern technology. To address this, officials and staff in treasury and local audit departments have been instructed to completely shift to the digital system.

The letter also stressed strict compliance with the new rule, warning that any negligence in its implementation will be taken seriously.
