Chandigarh, December 10 — The Haryana Seed Development Corporation will soon launch the ‘Apni Sabzi–Apna Phal’ scheme, aimed at enabling citizens to grow fresh vegetables and fruits at home. The initiative will be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
The decision was taken during the corporation’s 51st Annual General Meeting held in Panchkula under the chairmanship of Dev Kumar Sharma. Managing Director Raj Narayan Kaushik, Directors Manoj Babbli and Dara Singh, NSC Director Nanu Ram Yadav, the company secretary and other officials attended the meeting. Shareholders, most of them farmers, were welcomed in large numbers.
Under the scheme, even those without agricultural land or sufficient space will be able to grow seasonal vegetables and fruits in pots or on their rooftops. The corporation will provide high-quality seeds and guide citizens on chemical-free cultivation, encouraging them to grow fresh and healthy produce. Officials said the initiative is expected to enhance greenery and strengthen household nutrition.
Sharma said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been working consistently to increase farmers’ income, and Haryana is procuring all 24 crops at MSP in line with this commitment. He added that the corporation is providing farmers with premium-quality seeds to boost productivity and improve their earnings.
The meeting also discussed additional measures to support farmers’ income growth, including studying successful models in other states. It was decided to increase the number of sales centres to ensure farmers have easy access to quality seeds and related materials. Several farmers’ grievances were also addressed on the spot.
Members praised the farmer-friendly policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. They also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for ensuring MSP procurement of multiple crops across the state.
