Haryana Releases ₹380 Crore for Bajra Farmers Under Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, Says CM Nayab Singh Saini

Chandigarh, December 14 — Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Saturday announced the release of ₹380 crore for bajra-producing farmers under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, reaffirming the state government’s commitment to farmer welfare. Addressing office-bearers of the BJP Kisan Morcha at his official residence Sant Kabir Kutir, the Chief Minister said prosperity in the state is not possible without the prosperity of farmers.

The Chief Minister said the government supports farmers at every stage, from sowing to harvesting, by providing subsidies on agricultural machinery. He added that compensation and crop insurance are ensured in case of natural calamities, while arrangements have been made for procurement of every grain after harvest, with payments transferred directly into farmers’ bank accounts.

Highlighting the government’s procurement policy, Saini said all 24 crops are now being purchased at Minimum Support Price (MSP). He informed that payments worth ₹1.64 lakh crore have already been deposited into the accounts of nearly 12 lakh farmers. He added that over the last 11 years, the government has paid ₹15,728 crore as compensation for crop damage.

The Chief Minister urged Kisan Morcha office-bearers to motivate farmers towards micro-irrigation, stating that it not only conserves water but also reduces cultivation costs. He said the “Meri Fasal Mera Byora” portal has simplified crop procurement and enabled farmers to access subsidies for seeds, fertilisers, loans and farm equipment from home.

Saini said that for Kharif season 2025, more than ₹116.51 crore has been released as compensation to 53,821 farmers whose crops were damaged due to natural calamities. He also highlighted that the government abolished the colonial-era abiana (water tax) and waived pending abiana dues amounting to ₹133.55 crore.

Referring to sugarcane farmers, the Chief Minister said Haryana has fixed the highest sugarcane price in the country at ₹415 per quintal. He added that 108 mandis in the state have been integrated with the e-NAM portal to facilitate online sale of crops, while Asia’s largest modern apple, fruit and vegetable market has been established in Pinjore.

The Chief Minister said that under the Natural Farming Scheme, nearly 31,873 acres have been brought under natural farming, with verification completed for over 19,700 farmers. Financial assistance for bio-inputs and indigenous cow purchase has been directly transferred to farmers’ bank accounts.

He further stated that under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, ₹7,233 crore has been transferred to over 20 lakh farmers in Haryana. Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, insurance claims worth ₹9,127 crore have been paid to more than 33.5 lakh farmers so far.

Saini also spoke about the One-Time Settlement Scheme, under which interest worth ₹2,266 crore for over 6.81 lakh farmers and labourers has been waived, along with an additional waiver of ₹1,314 crore in interest and penalties for over 4.10 lakh farmers.

The Chief Minister said the government is providing substantial subsidies for biogas plants, solar pumps and irrigation systems, including up to 85 percent subsidy on micro-irrigation systems under the ‘Per Drop More Crop’ initiative. He added that water channels are being rehabilitated under the revised Watercourse Policy-2021 to ensure irrigation reaches every field.

Calling upon Kisan Morcha office-bearers, Saini urged them to ensure that information about farmer-centric schemes reaches every farmer so they can maximise benefits and enhance their income.
