Chandigarh, March 5, 2025 – In a major decision to support farmers, the Haryana Government, led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, has increased the average production limits for Rabi crops. This policy change will allow farmers to sell higher yields at the Minimum Support Price (MSP), preventing losses caused by earlier lower yield limits.
New Production Limits for Rabi Crops
A dedicated committee was formed to analyze crop production trends and recommend adjustments. Based on its findings, the new limits for the Rabi Marketing Season 2025-26 are:
Barley: Increased from 15 quintals to 16 quintals per acre
Gram: Increased from 5 quintals to 6 quintals per acre
Sunflower: Increased from 8 quintals to 9 quintals per acre
Summer Moong: Increased from 3 quintals to 4 quintals per acre
Lentils (Masur): Newly set at 4 quintals per acre (previously had no limit)
Wheat: No change, remains at 25 quintals per acre
Farmer Benefits & Economic Impact
This decision will directly benefit farmers growing barley, gram, sunflower, moong, and lentils, ensuring they can sell their entire produce without restrictions.
More farmers will now qualify for MSP benefits, leading to better financial stability.
The increased limits align with modern agricultural output trends, ensuring higher returns.
The policy reflects the Haryana Government’s commitment to strengthening agriculture and boosting rural incomes.
With this move, the government aims to empower farmers, enhance market accessibility, and promote sustainable agricultural growth in Haryana.
