Chandigarh, October 9: Haryana Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao announced that free platelet facilities, including Single Donor Platelets (SDP), are available in all government hospitals across the state. She added that if required, the government would also procure platelets from private blood banks. The minister assured that the dengue situation in the state is fully under control and constant monitoring is underway.
Speaking to the media at her official residence in Chandigarh, Rao shared that 65,707 samples have been tested so far, out of which 1,041 have been confirmed as dengue cases, with no reported deaths. Free dengue tests are available at government hospitals, while private hospitals have been directed to charge only ₹600 per test. She said that 27 testing labs are currently active, and 255 wards with 1,091 beds have been reserved for dengue patients across the state.
The minister further informed that the health department has surveyed 3.17 crore households, discovering dengue larvae in 1.73 lakh of them, which were immediately destroyed. Notices have been issued to 87,143 houses where larvae were repeatedly found. Rao said that fogging operations have been carried out at 7,874 locations, and regular fogging is being ensured by municipal and panchayat departments.
Appealing to citizens to maintain cleanliness, she urged people not to let water accumulate in their surroundings and to clean coolers, tanks, and flowerpots regularly. She advised people to consult doctors immediately if they experience fever or dengue symptoms instead of self-medicating.
Rao announced that the government will soon purchase 28 mobile food safety testing vans to monitor adulterated food sales in 14 NCR districts of Haryana. Since October 2024, 3,682 food samples have been collected, out of which 606 failed quality tests. Offenders have been fined ₹1.10 crore, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
She revealed that two food testing laboratories are operational and mandated to deliver reports within 14 days. However, recognizing the need for more facilities, the state has written to the Centre requesting the establishment of five FSSAI and three NCRPB labs.
Between September 17 and October 2, the Health Department organized 28,000 camps, screening over 28 lakh people under the Seva Pakhwada initiative. Rao said that an additional 1.27 lakh people were tested in private hospitals during this period.
Discussing procurement updates, she said that rates have been finalized for 241 medical and consumable items, with an expenditure of ₹419 crore, while 28 medical devices worth ₹134 crore have also been contracted. Since October 2024, the department has issued 590 online purchase orders worth ₹103 crore for life-saving medicines and injections, along with medical equipment worth ₹56 crore.
She announced that soon CT scan machines will be installed in Bahadurgarh, Charkhi Dadri, Narnaul, and Fatehabad, while MRI machines will be set up in Kurukshetra, Panipat, Narnaul, Fatehabad, Bahadurgarh, Palwal, Yamunanagar, Sonipat, Sirsa, and Kaithal under the PPP mode. Orders for 14 X-ray machines have been placed, and 74 more will be procured soon.
Extending greetings on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 25 years of public service as Chief Minister and Prime Minister, Rao praised his leadership, saying India continues to advance under his guidance. She added that on October 17, PM Modi will inaugurate multiple development projects worth crores in Sonipat, giving a fresh boost to Haryana’s progress.
