Visits Palwal and Hodal grain markets, announces modernisation of Hodal Mandi

Chandigarh, April 9 – Haryana’s Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Rajesh Nagar, has assured farmers of prompt procurement and payment for their produce. During a visit to Palwal and Hodal grain markets on Wednesday, he reviewed arrangements and directed officials to ensure smooth operations and immediate improvements where needed.

Nagar emphasized the state government’s unwavering commitment to protecting farmers’ interests. He instructed officials to speed up crop payments to prevent delays and inconvenience. He also directed both departmental officers and commission agents to ensure swift lifting of crops from the market yards.

Announcing plans for Hodal grain market, the minister said it will be transformed into a modern “garden mandi.” The proposal and cost estimate have already been submitted. He added that the new mandi setup will significantly improve facilities for farmers and traders alike.

During his inspection, Nagar ordered improvements in electricity, water supply, cleanliness, and other basic amenities in the mandi. He reiterated that the Haryana government has made full arrangements to purchase every grain produced by farmers, and encouraged farmers to actively participate in the procurement process. He also urged them to bring well-dried and clean mustard crops to the mandi for a smoother transaction.

While touring the grain market premises, the minister closely examined the procurement process, storage systems, cleanliness, and basic infrastructure. He later held a meeting with mandi officials and traders, stressing that all processes—from procurement to payment—must be completely transparent.
