Haryana Launches ₹4,827 Crore Road Upgradation Project to Strengthen Connectivity and Infrastructure

Chandigarh, September 21 – Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini today inaugurated the State Road Upgradation Project, aimed at strengthening the state’s road infrastructure. Under this initiative, 4,227 roads spanning 9,410 kilometers will be repaired and upgraded during the current financial year at an estimated cost of ₹4,827 crore.

Addressing a state-level event in Hisar, the Chief Minister said the project marks a golden chapter in Haryana’s infrastructure growth and will play a pivotal role in shaping a Viksit Bharat, Viksit Haryana. “This initiative will bridge the gap between rural and urban areas, provide better connectivity, and accelerate the state’s economic, social, and commercial growth,” he said. The CM also flagged off work on 410 roads under the project.

The Chief Minister stressed strict adherence to quality standards, warning contractors and officials against negligence. “This is public money, and every rupee must be spent for public good,” he asserted.

A Tribute to Prime Minister Modi’s Vision
CM Saini described the initiative as a true gift to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 75th birthday. “This state-wide project will bring to life the Prime Minister’s dream of a developed and self-reliant India,” he said. Highlighting the PM’s leadership, he noted that India has seen a revolution in infrastructure over the past 11 years, from defense and freight corridors to Bharatmala and Sagarmala projects. He added that the new project will reduce transport costs, cut pollution, save fuel, and boost both agriculture and industry.

Road Development in the Last 11 Years
The CM detailed that Haryana has improved 43,703 km of roads at a cost of ₹28,651 crore in the last 11 years, along with constructing 2,417 km of new roads worth ₹2,534 crore. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, 2,432 km of rural roads were built at a cost of ₹1,077 crore.

He also highlighted progress in railway infrastructure, noting that 97 overbridges and underpasses worth ₹2,000 crore have been built, with 47 more underway. The double-engine government has approved 21 new national highways in Haryana, of which 12 are already operational, ensuring that no district remains unconnected to the national highway network.

Minister’s Remarks
Public Works (Buildings & Roads) Minister Ranbir Gangwa thanked the Chief Minister for launching the project, calling it the foundation of Haryana’s future. “The upgradation will cover all roads under PWD, Marketing Board, HSVP, HSIIDC, and others. Strong infrastructure is key to realizing PM Modi’s vision of making India a developed nation by 2047,” he said.

Gangwa assured that construction quality will not be compromised and all tenders will be completed on time. He urged citizens to treat roads as their property and cooperate with the government in maintaining and protecting them.

The event was attended by MLAs Savitri Jindal, Randhir Panihar, Vinod Bhyana, former ministers Dr. Kamal Gupta and Anoop Dhanak, former MP General D.P. Vats, and Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Aggarwal, among others.
